Darlene Clark Selected as the Winner of the 2021 Red Seal Award of Excellence

Darlene Clark, Manager of Program Standards for the Nova Scotia Apprenticeship Agency (NSAA), has been selected by the CCDA as the recipient of the 2021 Red Seal Award of Excellence. The award is given to an apprenticeship authority staff member who demonstrates inspiring leadership in the development of and promotion of apprenticeship and trade certification.

After 35 years working with NSAA, Darlene has made tremendous contributions to the Red Seal Program, national and Atlantic harmonization, and apprenticeship in Nova Scotia. She coordinates all Red Seal activities within Nova Scotia, including consultations with industry, recruiting participants to help develop occupational standard and examinations, developing Red Seal exam preparation guides, and providing valuable feedback on countless Red Seal products and initiatives.

Within NSAA, Darlene’s extensive knowledge and memory has made her the go-to resource for everything Red Seal and interprovincial. She works tirelessly to keep colleagues, board members, educators, stakeholders, and partners up-to-date on the Red Seal Program and other inter-jurisdictional initiatives. Darlene has mentored, trained and led many NSAA staff in Red Seal activities, such as program development workshops. She is dedicated to NSAA’s Building More Equitable Pathways framework and strives create accessible programs, standards, and curriculum that meet the needs of all apprentices. As a creative problem solver, she is known for introducing efficiencies in product development and creating alternative pathways to help more tradespeople achieve certification.

Darlene has been a pillar of the Red Seal Program for the majority of her career. CCDA is grateful for this opportunity to recognize the contributions she has made and wishes her sincere congratulations on winning the Red Seal Award of Excellence.
