Schneider Electric has opened a significant expansion to its facility in Brossard, PQ that will allow the company to build and assemble end-to-end digitized electrical distribution solutions, and will give customers across the country more order flexibility and will reduce lead times.

The new 68,000 square foot building, called 4150 Brossard, encompasses production facilities for eight product lines including station breakers, switchboards, medium voltage and low voltage switchgear. The building also houses local copper and sheet metal fabrication, assembly, and testing areas, allowing local customers to test their assembled solutions on site. In total, the Brossard Campus now covers 172,000 square feet in three buildings.

“The expansion of Schneider Electric’s Brossard Campus is a reflection of our strong commitment to our Canadian customers,” says Juan Macias, President of Schneider Electric Canada. “The facility is the only one in North America to house not only manufacturing and testing facilities, but project management, engineering and sales teams. It is a truly integrated site, staffed by a highly skilled, multi-lingual workforce, capable of supporting our Canadian customers all the way from the initial quote through to assembly and testing.”

Schneider Electric began operating at its Brossard site in 2010. The facility not only lowers the risk of damage to equipment during transport for Canadian customers by reducing travel distance, but it also helps customers meet local content requirements by providing made-in-Canada solutions. The campus’ proximity to major highways and shipping routes also means the company can deliver solutions quickly and safely to customers across the country.

Products that are now manufactured, assembled, tested and validated at the Brossard Campus include:

  • air-insulated metal-clad switchgear
  • gas-insulated switchgear
  • power-zone 4 low voltage switchgear
  • switchboards
  • station breakers
  • securupt fuses
  • energy automation solutions
  • MasterClad Arc Resistant (production begins September 2016)

The Brossard Campus supports basic insulation level testing, ensuring equipment built and solutions assembled within the facility can withstand surge voltages. The site is ISO-certified to the highest standards in sustainability and safety, allowing Schneider Electric to deliver reliable, safe, efficient and sustainable solutions to its Canadian customers and distributors.
