From February 7th-9th, 2023, Bartle & Gibson hosted their annual electrical Field Marketing Summit in Calgary, Alberta. Account managers, branch managers and other staff members joined from all regions for the event. The meetings consisted of presentations from Bartle & Gibson’s team, valued partners, and from their marketing/buying group, Affiliated Distributors Canada. This included showcasing new products, discussing new opportunities for future growth, and reviewing the previous year’s progress.

Solar and Wind With Battery Storage Are Set to Produce Cheaper Electricity Than Natural Gas in Alberta and Ontario

In Alberta and Ontario, wind can now produce electricity at lower costs than natural-gas-fired power—with even more reductions on the horizon, according to a new report from Clean Energy Canada, which was informed by research commissioned from Dunsky Energy + Climate Advisors. Even without carbon pricing, wind power is set to be 40% cheaper than gas-fired-power in both provinces by 2030.

On February 6th and 7th Electro-Federation Canada sent a delegation of staff and members to Ottawa in an effort to engage with MPs and policy makers on the industry’s role in powering a changing world and Canada’s efforts to reach net-zero goals. The mission for EFC and its members was to develop relationships in Ottawa to get the industry a seat at the policy making table.

Investment in building construction decreased 1.3% to $20.2 billion in December. The residential sector declined 2.1% to $14.6 billion, while the non-residential sector was up 0.8% to $5.6 billion. On a constant dollar basis (2012=100), investment in building construction decreased 2.0% to $11.6 billion. Investment in residential building construction was down 2.1% to $14.6 billion in December.

AD Owner/Member Sales up 28% to a Record $74.9 Billion in 2022

AD is reporting record results for 2022 in owner/member sales, member purchases from AD suppliers, AD warehouse sales to AD members, net distributions to members, and operational efficiency. 2022 owner/member sales were $74.9 billion, a 28% increase from the previous year. Purchases by member companies from AD supplier partners were $20.3 billion. Net distributions to owner/members reached $1.4 billion.
