GM to Build EV Motors at Ontario Plant

General Motors has announced plans to build motors for electric vehicle at its propulsion plant in St. Catharines, Ont., potentially creating 500 new jobs at the facility. The plan, contingent on GM securing support agreements with the federal and provincial governments, should allow for the production of more than 400,000 EV drive units a year. GM said the motors will likely go directly into its pickup trucks and BrightDrop delivery vans, the latter of which is being manufactured in part in nearby Ingersoll, Ont.
