Here is a good news/bad news kind of story. Distributors across North America are investing to create webstores and an enhanced online presence — that’s the good news. Conversely, the bad news is many of them have yet to establish any real level of expertise in the whole digital experience. Simply put, they’re online but not good at it.

Multifactor productivity, measured as output per unit of combined labour and capital inputs, rose 1.9% in the Canadian business sector in 2017, following no growth in 2016 and a 1.0% decline in 2015. The increase in 2017 reflected 3.7% growth in output and a 1.8% gain in the combined inputs of capital and labour.

Of those surveyed, operations managers in Edmonton as well as Calgary (not charted) make 14% and 12% over the average, respectively, while those in Montreal earn 11% below the average. The national average salary is $68,436.
Wholesale sales rose 0.7% to $63.6 billion in November, a second consecutive increase. Sales were up in six of seven subsectors, representing 99% of wholesale sales. In volume terms, wholesale sales increased 0.5%.
