In Memory of Thomas Jonathan Brockway, President of Brockway Enterprises

CEW Thomas Obit 400

Dec 4, 2019

Tom is survived by his partner Wendy Hamm of Chester, his sons Tom (Kerrie Lee) and Jason (Leanne), Tom and Jason’s mother Maureen (Quigley), siblings David (Joyce), Karen (Tom George), Wanda (Brad Morgan), Monty, Vicki (Tom Brake), Roger (Sandra), grandchildren Brent, Ryan, Adam and Kate, as well as sister in-law Pat and many nieces and nephews. Tom is predeceased by his parents Reginald and Jean (Sheppard) and his brother Barry.

Tom was an entrepreneur, father, grandfather, partner, brother, uncle, friend and humanitarian who was second to none. He could be found doing various tasks at his cottage in Newburne regularly, and he loved hosting company there for an afternoon, a meal or sometimes an overnight visit. His first love was music, and he began playing guitar at a young age inspired by the Brockway Brothers radio show, which consisted of his father and his father’s siblings. His lifelong passion for music carried on as he was recording his own music until very recently. Tom loved exploring his roots and visiting family in Corner Brook, Newfoundland. His love for his siblings, in-laws, nieces and nephews and friends cannot be expressed with words, but he had a special way of letting people know how he felt.

Tom had a career in the electrical industry that spanned 48 years. Starting in contracting, moving to distribution, on to manufacturing and eventually to starting his own business in manufacturer’s representation in 1988, in which he was still actively participating. Tom was a passionate leader in this industry and was an active member of several associations and industry related organizations, both locally and nationally. His void will be felt, and he will be missed by his vast network of colleagues.

There will be a celebration of Tom’s life on Thursday December 5th at 10:00 am at J. A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Dr., Halifax, NS, followed by a reception at the same location. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Feed Nova Scotia or Special Olympics Nova Scotia, two causes near and dear to Tom’s heart.
