Galvanizing Breakfast Seminar for the EFC Quebec Section

EIN EFC Jaques Finn 400

Oct 2, 2019

Jacques Fiset, the new president of the EFC Quebec section, told us in a recent interview that his goal was to create active links between young and experienced professionals in the industry. For the first event organized by EFC – Quebec since his arrival – held on Wednesday, October 2 at the Crystal in Montreal, he can no doubt say mission accomplished.

In front of a packed house of industry young professionals and veterans, men and women from all segments and channels of the industry, Steven Finn moderated this breakfast seminar with a conference holding the evocative title of Osez Réussir (Dare to Succeed). The room was very attentive and receptive to the former hockey player and captain for the Nordiques de Québec, who, before starting a career as a businessman and speaker, played 12 seasons in the NHL. He briefly joined the Colorado Avalance, then the Lightning of Tampa Bay before being transferred to the Los Angeles Kings after the sale of the Nordiques.

His message is clear: you must be positive and a team player. He told us of two great leaders he played with, Mario Lemieux and Wayne Gretzky. His anecdotes from locker room conversations showed us that talent and potential alone are not enough to succeed. These two assets should, and must, contribute to the success of your organization. Finn also talked about the importance of feeling accepted when joining a new team or embarking on a new career. The mentoring role often mentioned in our industry and the importance of intergenerational links were well illustrated by Finn’s examples.

The next EFC Quebec event are the two Christmas receptions; December 4th in Montreal and December 12th in Quebec City.
