SCC Appoints Richard Tremblay Vice-President, Strategy and Stakeholder Engagement

Richard Tremblay’s appointment took effect February 4, 2019. Prior to joining the Standards Council of Canada, Tremblay spent four years at the National Research Council of Canada (NRC), where he most recently held the position of Director General of the Construction Research Centre. He joined the NRC from the Industrial Research Centre of Quebec, where he held various positions including Vice-President of Operations, Director of Testing and Export Conformity Services, Director of Industrial Automation, and Vice-President of Strategic Information and Product Conformity.

During his 30-year career, Mr. Tremblay has a gained extensive experience in areas such as construction, building regulations, industrial automation, as well as industrial and construction innovation. He is a founding member of the Regroupement des équipementiers en automatisation industrielle (REAI) of Quebec, and was a member of the Board of Directors of Manufacturers and Exporters of Quebec (MEQ). Until recently, he was the President of the board of CIB World (International Council for Research and Innovation in Building and Construction).

Richard Tremblay holds a Bachelor of Engineering in mechanical engineering from the Université de Sherbrooke. His experience working in both the public and private sector in Canada has provided him with a keen understanding of the issues that affect SCC’s members. It also makes him uniquely qualified to lead in the development of strategies that will enable SCC to build a strong standardization network that continues to provide value to Canada.
