Canadian Electrical Wholesaler

MarcusA transformer, we all have an idea about what it is and what it does. It's one of those things that we never notice. Its usefulness is obvious, even essential. You can’t connect devices into an outlet if there isn’t a transformer somewhere...

Oniel ElectricO’Neil Electric’s recipe for success is a simple one. Strip away the slick new counters at their Woodbridge head office, peel off the well-designed wrap on their delivery trucks, and forget about strategic acquisitions, market analytics, or diversifying.

Bob ShapiroBob Shapiro is one of the most respected stalwarts of the industry. We sat down with him to talk succession, history, relationships and how to land right side up.

Ride

Canadian Electrical Wholesaler sat down with Thomas Brockway, founder and president of Brockway Enterprises, an independent electrical manufacturers' representative for the Atlantic provinces, to talk business, industry challenges, leadership, customers, and the bright future of Atlantic Canada.

Michael's WayLocated across from Clear Lake in Ontario’s Kawarthas region, Michael’s Way is a cottage retreat for chronically ill children and their families. It’s an ongoing labour of love, and one that can use your help.

Patrick MarionI crossed paths with Patrick Marion during my first interview in the electrical industry world almost 20 years ago. My mandate was to meet with electrical industry leaders so that I could learn the trends, the origins, the actors… In short, to learn more about the world in which I was going to dive. The subject of the interview was Pierre Dowd, who introduced me at the end to Patrick Marion by saying hey, here's the person who will succeed me.

Dave TaylorBecoming one of the largest independently owned distributors in Ontario is one thing, protecting the brand that made the business so successful is another. In 1955 Joseph Ozad founded Electrozad in Windsor Ontario and the company has thrived and prospered in markets that are diverse and wide spread.

Howie PrudenIdeal Supply has been operating since the mid 1920’s and its ability to adapt, grow and change to meet the opportunities it was presented is a hallmark of its history. So too is the ability of the management of the company to attract, nurture, develop and encourage its team from within.

Maureen BzowyMaureen Bzowy entered into the Canadian electrical industry in 1966 having been challenged by her father to simply get a job so she could start paying rent. Undaunted she went out into the industrial park in Vancouver and started the daily trek delivering resumes, aggressively pursuing this challenge like she has all others.  Like so many of us in the electrical industry there was no master plan to join the electrical industry specifically but an opportunity from the then GE Supply Sales and Distribution, gave her a position in an administrative role.

David GordonBy David Gordon

As we transition from the pandemic many wonder about the future of sales, meaning, “What will the sales process (sales model) look like in the future,” and, essentially, “What is the role of / for outside salespeople?”

In reality, this question was asked pre-pandemic as management lamented that Sales wasn’t being as productive as they desired. Companies are always seeking to improve their processes, whether it is having salespeople better penetrate accounts, identify and call on new customers, use a different (new?) sales method...
