E.B. Horsman & Son Supports BC Children's Hospital Foundation

August 2, 2016

For the seventh year in a row, E.B. Horsman & Son presented a cheque for $50,000 to BC Children’s Hospital Foundation (BCCHF) at a recent televised Miracle Weekend event.

E.B. Horsman & Son, now in its 116th year of operations, has supported BCCHF for over 24 years, fundraising and donating a cumulative total of over $747,000.

Throughout the year, employees organized and participated in initiatives including staff payroll deductions, silent auctions, sports pools, slo-pitch tournament, and Jeans Day BBQs.

“The number of people who show up year after year to support our events around the provinces of BC and Alberta is quite humbling,” says Carrie Higgins, Marketing and Fundraising Coordinator at E.B. Horsman & Son. “We couldn’t make this happen without the support of our dedicated and supportive employees, customers and supplier partners.”

Staff take the initiative by coordinating multiple fundraising activities, and this year Darrell Kilmartin was recognized for his fundraising efforts out of E.B. Horsman & Son’s Vernon location. Darrell organized a hockey playoff pool that has raised over $16,000 for the BC Children’s Hospital Foundation, including an amazing $6,000 in 2015 alone. In March 2016, Darrell was awarded The E.B. Horsman & Son Giving Back Award for these remarkable efforts.

“Every year we experience stories from employee, supplier and customer families that have been supported by the BCCHF”, said Tim Horsman, President & CEO of E.B. Horsman & Son. “In reality it is as much about the dollars we raise as the effort we put in to doing something good to help those in need around us.”

E.B. Horsman & Son remains committed to meeting or exceeding their $50,000 a year goal for the 2017 fundraising year and to working closely with the BC Children’s Hospital Foundation on specific initiatives to support kids in need.
