Awardee Exemplifies Expansion of Leadership Roles for Women within NECA and EC Industry

Mashell Carissimi

Mashell Carissimi, owner and CEO of JMC Electrical Contractor in Saint Clair Shores, Michigan, was recently named a 2015 winner of Enterprising Women’s Enterprising Women of the Year Award.

Touted as  “A shining example of how many professional women in our industry have rapidly moved into focus,”, Carissimi stood out as one of the top female entrepreneurs in North America and beyond.  This award is widely considered one the most prestigious recognition programs for women business owners. In order to qualify for the award nominees must demonstrate that they have fast-growth businesses, mentor or actively support other women and girls involved in entrepreneurship, and stand out as leaders in their communities.

Many Enterprising Women honourees also serve as leaders of the key organizations that support the growth of women’s entrepreneurship. Carissimi is the current treasurer of the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) Detroit Chapter and a trustee on the board of the National Association of Women in Business (NAWBO) Greater Detroit. A member of the Southeast Michigan Chapter, NECA, she is also active with the local Labor-Management Cooperation Committee (LMCC). And she plans to become more involved with Women in NECA (WIN), which is working hard to facilitate and promote the acceptance of female leaders within our association and industry.
