Tighten Your Skills at Distribution Boot Camp

Boot Camp

A couple of course at Texas A&M University’s Industrial Distribution Program you may want to take to brush up on your skills:

The first, on September 8-12, is the Intensive Inventory Management Program. The program deals with inventory stratification, forecasting and replenishment. “The inventory stratification process is usually not well-defined or given due importance, and it often gets over-simplified. When appropriately used, it can play a pivotal role in defining policies and procedures for other inventory management processes such as forecasting and replenishment.”

The second program is Pricing Optimization that addresses practical methods to set and manage prices using existing information in order to maximize profitability. “Even though most distributors understand to some extent other external drivers of pricing such as competition and market structure, understanding and implementing a holistic approach to pricing has always been difficult,” the course authors state.  It’ll also look at how to effectively segment the customer base, how to systematically maximize margins, and why and how to link inventory and customer classifications.
