Ouellet Canada: A New Distribution Centre in Montmagny

May 30, 2016

Ouellet Canada Inc.’s new 45,000 square foot distribution centre at 270 Avenue Corriveau in Montmagny, PQ will house the shipping, storage and repackaging activities of the company’s Ouellet, Momento and Global Commander brands, most of which are manufactured at Ouellet’s L’Islet plant. The company serves the residential, commercial, and industrial sectors and has become a North American leader in electric heating.

This distribution centre is part of a corporate rationalization and modernization plan, and represents the majority of the company’s $3.5 million investment in transforming the former Corriveau factory into a building that responds perfectly to the needs of the business. The space freed up in L’Islet has helped consolidate the manufacturing floor heating systems and cables that were previously manufactured in Quebec City.

In addition to this considerable investment, Ouellet is implementing two major projects that are scheduled for completion in early 2017:

• automation of an electric baseboard assembly line, an investment of $2 million

• Implementation of a new enterprise resource planning (ERP) system, an investment of $3 million

These investments, totalling $8 million, demonstrate management’s confidence in its customers, employees and the region.

Ouellet began in 1960 as a workshop attached to the home of founder Charles-Émile Ouellet. By focusing on innovation and keeping research and production aimed at high-performance electrical heating products, Ouellet has progressively conquered the Quebec, Canadian, American, and overseas markets.

Ouellet Canada is part of the Ouellet Canada Group Inc., which also owns Industries Dettson Inc. in Sherbrooke, the largest manufacturer of furnaces and boilers in Canada; Hazloc Heaters in Calgary, a leading manufacturer of heating units for hazardous environments; and Nanjing Ouellet, a manufacturing plant in China. Ouellet Canada Group Inc. employs over 400 people in total.
