MacKinnon Magnetics’ First Transformer Joins Rexel Canada’s 100th Anniversary Museum Collection

April 30, 2026

MacKinnon Magnetics and Rexel Canada recently celebrated the first MacKinnon dry-type transformer off the production line for Rexel, marking the start of a new Canadian supply partnership. The commemorative unit will be permanently displayed in Rexel Canada’s museum and showcase, created to honour the 100th anniversary of its Westburne banner in 2026.

During a visit earlier this year to MacKinnon’s Canadian-owned manufacturing facility in Concord, Ontario, Rexel Canada CEO Jeffery Moyle reviewed final preparations for the initial production run and requested that the very first transformer be reserved for the Rexel museum. The milestone transformer was later presented at Rexel with Salim Bhojani, Vice President, Corporate and Supplier Strategy, and Jennifer Schilling, Corporate Supplier Relations Manager, alongside members of the MacKinnon family and leadership team.

MacKinnon Magnetics designs, manufactures, and tests CSA-certified, low-voltage dry-type transformers for commercial, industrial, and OEM applications across North America, handling engineering, manufacturing, and testing under one roof to ensure quality and fast turnaround. The company’s three-phase dry-type transformers, available from 15 to 1000 kVA and built in Concord, align with Rexel’s focus on high-performance electrical solutions for the Canadian market.

The presentation of the first transformer coincides with Rexel Canada’s celebration of a century of Westburne history, tracing its roots back to 1926 and the evolution from Ainsworth Oils and Commonwealth Petroleum to today’s national electrical distribution network. As part of its centennial, Rexel has relaunched the historic Westburne Art Collection at Edmonton’s McMullen Gallery under the “Painting the Prairie” banner and hosted coast-to-coast branch events, including cake-cutting celebrations with employees and customers.
