The 2018 IDEAL Nationals Championship is well underway across Canada. In fact. we have almost reached the halfway point in the Qualifying Round of our competition, which runs until October 5th. At the time of writing, we have completed 65 Nationals events in five different provinces from Ontario to BC. and we will be making our first forays into Quebec and the Atlantic provinces this month.

Word of the National Championship is spreading among electricians and apprentices – we are starting to see many familiar faces at our events as competitors try to better their times. in hopes of securing a ticket to the Championship Weekend in Orlando. In a competition where just one hundredth of a second could be all it takes to upset the leaderboard. some serious contenders are even ordering the Official Competition Board so that they can practice at home!
Some Recent Competition Highlights:

After being knocked off the leaderboard for Canada East by Mike Pentz (Mike Pentz Electrical Ltd.) at the Ideal Supply Stratford Tradeshow in May. Lance Giesbrecht (ELG Electric) was able to regain the top professional spot with an outstanding display of speed and agility at our Westburne Cambridge event.
Out in BC, Lex Toews (Multiphase Solutions Inc.) put on an impressive show at EB Horsman in Burnaby to take over as the professional leader for Canada West. We also saw great performances from Ontario apprentice Zach Agombar (Goderich Electric) and John Collins from Thompson Rivers University in BC, who are the ones to beat in the Student/Apprentice category.
