CSA Group has honoured Keith Rodel, Codes and Standards Manager for Hubbell Canada LP, with the 2016 John Jenkins Award, CSA Group’s most prestigious honour.

The award is bestowed upon the person who is judged to have rendered distinguished service in the development, advancement, and application of voluntary standards.

CSA Group presented the John Jenkins award and awards of merit to electrical industry members and others at its recent annual conference in Vancouver.

“Keith Rodel has been an active member of CSA committees since the 1980s,” says Magali Depras, President of Standards. “Mr. Rodel has chaired the Technical Committee on Wiring Products since 2001, after serving as Vice Chair for over a decade. The committee oversees the work of more than 25 technical subcommittees and is responsible for the content of more than 100 standards.”

Rodel also chairs five technical subcommittees, is a member of four other technical committees, and has been playing a leading role on the Strategic Steering Committee on Requirements for Electrical Safety (SCORES) since its inception in 2003. He has actively contributed to the development and improvement of several sections of the CE Code, Part I for more than 15 years.

As well, Rodel has taken his belief in harmonization beyond North America. He was President of the Canadian National Committee of the IEC (CNC/IEC) from 2008 through 2014, and he has tirelessly promoted Canadian/North American requirements on the international stage, where he is well known and respected at both the technical and management levels. He thoroughly reviewed documents and developed and submitted the Canadian consensus positions on various IEC standards, with a view to promoting Canadian/North American requirements internationally.

“Keith has been an outstanding contributor to the legacy of success we have enjoyed at Hubbell Canada,” says Hubbell Canada LP Vice President & General Manager Kevin Mallory. “He has shown sustained commitment to our organization, and a strong passion for the promotion of many important positive changes to national and international codes and standards initiatives. He achieved all of this in strong cooperation with his peers and industry stakeholders who share a common vision to progressively move the industry forward safely, effectively and with consensus.”
