The upcoming legalization of marijuana across Canada has reopened a discussion regarding drugs and alcohol in the workplace. Employers across the country are concerned about the impact this change will have on their workplace and how they can manage it in a way that balances productivity, safety and human rights obligations.

In this session Stuart Ducoffe will review the current legal landscape and the upcoming change to legislation legalizing marijuana. He will discuss practical concerns relating to impairment at work, drug and alcohol testing, navigating safety concerns, and the employer’s duty to accommodate. Finally, Stuart will discuss best practices in developing a drugs and alcohol policy.
