Northern Cables Purchases Brockville Industrial Lands for New Production Facility

Northern Cables, a Brockville-based manufacturer, is expanding its operations with plans to build a new production facility that will create approximately 50 new jobs. The company has purchased about 18 acres of land from the city of Brockville on Crocker Crescent for this expansion.

  • Facility Plans: The company has committed to constructing a minimum 100,000-square-foot facility within the next five years.

  • Unique Production: This new facility will be the only Canadian-owned site in the country manufacturing medium voltage power cables.

The expansion represents a significant investment in Brockville’s industrial sector. Mayor Matt Wren described it as “a tremendously good news story for the community, for our industrial park and our employment lands”.

While the company has up to five years to complete the project, the actual timeline may vary.

Northern Cables needs to bring in equipment from overseas, which could affect the construction schedule.

The company is known for being “methodical” in its approach, according to CEO Shelley Bacon.

The new facility will focus on producing medium voltage cables, which are primarily used for industrial applications, particularly in the mining sector. This move into medium voltage cables represents Northern Cables entering a niche market at the encouragement of their clients.
