CACN Conducts Training at CBSA

CACN

The Canadian Anti-counterfeiting Network (CACN) led a training session for the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) in Toronto in January. With 40 CBSA officers in attendance, the session offered the officers an overview of counterfeiting in Canada–and the initiatives currently underway to help prevent product counterfeiting, fraud and copyright piracy in Canada. EFC’s Swati Patel led the session and was joined by Vladimir Gagachev from Eaton, Antonio Rocha from Siemens as well as Terry Hunter and Kat Molnar from CSA Group, among other industry associations. Presenters shared insights on the newly-enacted Bill C-8 and offered tips and techniques on how to identify counterfeit goods from within a wide range of product categories, including electrical. This training is part of CACN’s ongoing efforts to educate law enforcement, government and others on the extent and impact of counterfeiting in Canada. CACN may be expanding this training program to other CBSA locations across Canada in the months to follow. For details, visit www.cacn.ca or follow CACN on Twitter at
