More than 5,700 attendees visited the Moncton Coliseum to take in the Mechanical Electrical Electronic Technology (MEET) Show on May 4-5. The second largest industry event of its kind in Canada, the event showcased the latest technology from the mechanical and electrical industries.

A key feature of the event includes the MEET Innovation Awards. For the past six editions of this event, one award from each of the show’s four sponsoring associations, including EFC, is presented as a way to recognize innovative products, businesses, and importantly the team of designers. The EFC selection committee was pleased to announce the 2022 Innovation Award winner is Intellimeter Canada Inc. for their i-Meter EVCMC. The metering solution for multi-unit buildings solves a problem as more and more consumers turn to driving electric vehicles. Congratulations to the Intellimeter team on this significant achievement.

There is also an educational component to MEET as well, with seminars being held on various topics over two days. EFC was proud to sponsor ‘Anti-counterfeiting and Brand Protection’ with Andrew Pottier, Codes and Regulatory Services, Underwriters Laboratories of Canada Inc. Andrew’s presentation shone a light on product counterfeiting and the dangers it poses: Corporations lose market share, billions of dollars in revenues, and their hard-won reputations. Communities lose thousands upon thousands of jobs and suffer lost tax dollars. Consumers lose money and confidence in the market to provide safe products – and may even lose their lives. Andrew’s presentation brought awareness to the magnitude of this problem and helped attendees identify potentially counterfeit products that are purchased in the marketplace every day.

To coincide with this year’s MEET show, EFC held an informal pre-MEET show kick off at the Moncton Press Club on May 3. Members came out to snack on hors d’oeurvres and network with colleagues in a fun and relaxed atmosphere. EFC thanks all those who attended.

On May 4, the Electro-Federation Canada (EFC) Atlantic Region Women’s Network held a networking and dinner event at The Keg in Moncton, NB. With many WN members being in Moncton for the MEET show, the event was a nice way to gather and reconnect while celebrating being together again, in person..A big thank you to Atlantic Region WN Chair Julie Mills and Vice Chair Laura Spencer for organizing the event, and sponsors ABBGraybar CanadaNext Sales and MarketingRexel Atlantic, and Rockwell Automation.
