Kerrwil and Electrical Council Partner to Bring Big Data

In this day and age, information is key to business success more than it ever has been. Data, statistics, and getting a bird’s eye view of the industry can help companies not only benchmark, but plan accordingly.

However, collecting all that information, never mind crunching the numbers, can be a difficult task to squeeze into the day-to-day operations. That’s why Kerrwil Publications Ltd., which owns this website and Electrical Industry Canada, has partnered with Electro-Federation Canada’s Electrical Council to release the 2015 Edition of Pathfinder.

“This industry report is the premier benchmarking tool and contains the most comprehensive data and trends in the Canadian electrical market,” explains John Kerr, president, Kerrwil Publications. Now in its 30th edition, it provides companies with extensive information on various electrical product sections, number of employees per branch, market mix by commercial, residential and industrial.

“It’s the two of us working together to provide the industry insight and benchmarking tools across the country by product mix, market mix and customer mix,” explains Swati Patel, manager, Communications, Electrical Council.

“It helps the manufacturer and distributor better partner to grow sales,” says Patel. “Pathfinder does an entire statistical account of current industry trends, as well as forecasted trends, so businesses can then put together plans to jive with those trends, and modify their business strategies accordingly.”

In this year’s addition, you’ll find a complete profile of key electrical product groups, including lighting, wire & cable, transformers, industrial controls, distribution equipment, motors & generators, wiring supplies, batteries, and electric heating.

There’s also a statistical account of the full-line electrical channel in Canada, including details on customer mix and market mix, as well as current and projected industry data.

New this year is a recap of key trends that have helped shaped the industry. “It gives a historical perspective on where the industry has been, where it’s moving to, and how businesses need to stay current with these trends to remain dynamic in the industry,” sums up Patel.
