EFC Quebec Region “Personalities of the Year” for 2019 and 2020, Awarded at 20th Annual Quebec Region Golf Tournament

CEW Que EFC Personality 400

Septmeber 14, 2021

Each year, the Quebec region members present the Personality of the Year Award to honour an individual who has been a significant contributor to our industry in the Quebec region, demonstrating strong leadership through personal and professional contributions.

On August 26th, 2021, during the 20th edition of EFC’s Quebec Region Golf Day at Hillsdale Golf & Country Club in Mirabel, Quebec, we recognized not only one, but two Personalities of the Year. Since the 2020 golf day was cancelled due to the pandemic, we are celebrating two recipients this year, the 2019 Personality of the Year, Pierre Bradley, Nedco and the 2020 Personality of the Year, Jean-Marc Myette, ABB.

2019 Personality of the Year
Pierre Bradley’s first experience in the electrical industry was during an internship with Siemens while he was completing his DEP (professional diploma) in electricity in 1979. However, it wasn’t until 1987 that he officially joined the industry as a warehouse clerk on the night shift at Nedco. At this time, he also went back to studies to complete a HEC certificate in marketing.

Before climbing the Nedco corporate ladder, Pierre held a variety of different positions, from Inside Sales to Outside Sales, to Director of Marketing, Director of Operations, to finally become the General Manager in the year 2000, a role he held right up to his retirement in September 2019.

Pierre was always involved in the electrical industry, initially with EDMA (Electrical Distributors and Manufacturers Association) before Electro-Federation Canada was active in Quebec, and even more so with EFC once the chapter was created in the region. He was a familiar and friendly face at Christmas receptions, EFC golf tournaments and EFC conferences, and he was available and willing to give advice and help improve the region’s programs with his participation in the executive committee. In the early 2000s, Pierre was Chair of EFC Quebec Region, a role he held for two years.

Since his retirement 2 years ago, he sold his condo in the city and his home in Blainville, to take on the project to build his dream home in the country. As a retiree, he definitely has his hands full and is keeping busy. When he isn’t working on the construction of his home, he is out on the golf course. Pierre and his wife are waiting for the pandemic to pass before they can start travelling again.

2020 Personality of the Year
Jean-Marc Myette had his first taste of the electrical industry at a very young age. He followed his father, who was employed at T & B, wherever he travelled in Canada, and during his high school years, he worked at several difference electrical distributors. Following his collegiate studies in electrotechnology, he started his career at an electrical distributor, in inside and outside sales. In 1988, he joined the T & B, now ABB, team where he held various positions in Customer Service, Sales Representative, Product and Market Manager, Business Unit Manager, Director, Market Development, to finally be finish his career as Director, Business Development for Electrification Products at ABB.

Jean-Marc was a constant supporter of EFC from the time he joined EFC’s Quebec Region Executive Committee in 2010. From this time, he was greatly involved in many other committees (i.e. MCEE, communications) as well as other organizing committees (i.e. Fall Activity, Presidential Gala). In addition, since the issue of succession was one of particular concern to him, he was a great supporter of the school program, where he voluntarily visited professional trade schools, colleges, and universities to talk to the younger generation about the exciting career opportunities in the electrical industry.

Finally, Jean-Marc became the region’s first Vice-Chair in 2016, followed by a 2-year Chairmanship mandate, which he help until early 2019.

In November 2020, Jean-Marc retired, with many plans and goals that would keep him busy. Since early 2021 he accepted a 2-year director position which allows him to sit of the board of directors for the Fondation Le Renfort, and he is part of the organizing committee for the Balade de Rêve 2021, a fundraising event that is near and dear to his heart. Jean-Marc is also a Commissioner for the MNHL (Monday Night Hockey League) which just started up again since COVID hit.

Join us in congratulating Pierre Bradley and Jean-Marc Myette for this great recognition and to thank them for their support and involvement with Electro-Federation Canada throughout the years. We  invite you to leave them a message on the LinkedIn post.
