CEDA’s Silver Anniversary — 1959

CEDA Silver Anniversary

 June 23, 2020

January 8 of this year (1960) saw the entry into CEDA of Northern Electric’s Wholesale Division as a member. They were the second National company to join CEDA.

At some point during this year Canadian General Electric, the third of the “big three,” also became a member of CEDA. The date is not recorded. They were officially introduced as a “new member” at the General Meeting held on May 30, 1960 at the Delawana Inn, Ontario.

Above: An interesting and unusual and elaborate ceremony, complete with beating drums and native dances, marked the retirement of Norman Franks when a local Cree Tribe made Mr. Franks an Honourary Chief and presented him with a Chief’s headdress.

Below: Cliff Bell, Jack Cranswick, Jack Kerr and Henri Labrie share the head table.
