Canadian Electrical Wholesaler

EFC ScholarshipEFC ScholarshipA record $113,000 in scholarship funding is available this year to Canadian post-secondary students interested in pursuing a career in the electrical, electronics, and telecommunications industries. To date, Electro-Federation Canada (EFC) has invested over $600,000 in post-secondary technical training and education. Application deadline: May 31, 2014.

The program will award 56 scholarships to post-secondary students studying in an electrical or electronics concentration, including
•    electrical apprenticeship
•    electrical engineering technology
•    electrical technician
•    electrical engineering
•    supply chain management
•    business administration

Scholarships will also be awarded on the basis of academic achievement, areas of study, leadership, and career interests.

“These scholarships both encourage and support Canadian students in their studies and some members also provide exposure to our industry through internships,” says Joris Myny, Chair of the 2014 EFC Scholarship and VP Industry, Siemens Canada Limited. “With an aging workforce and succession planning a priority combined with the rapid development of new technologies, it is critical to attract the best and brightest students.”

I think it was Bill Gates who said the Internet will not have an effect on society short term, but will have a profound effect on us long term. 

Long term versus short term fascinates me. Making the call for one over the other can determine the success (or failure) of companies today. 

Using Bill Gates’ long-term Internet effect example, means that business decisions about the Internet will not necessarily show short-term gain, but will show “profound” gain in the long term.
